The Festool Kapex miter saw comes with Festools high-quality 60-tooth carbide blade for use when cutting woods or soft plastics , the angle transfer device, a hold-down clamp for securing material, and a wrench for unit adjustments. Compact and lightweight at 21.5 kg (47 lbs). Use the fine adjustment knob to control bevel angles in fractions of a degree. The bevel knob has three settings: positive detents at 0 and -45 degrees, free movement between -45 and +45 degrees, and free movement up to +/- 47 degrees. Bevels can be made to the left or right, and the bevel gauge appears on both sides of the saw. The Kapex blade creates a thin kerf which reduces load on the motor and improves the cut quality. The blades are specially designed to reduce noise levels and dampen vibration. The large 30mm arbor hole reduces blade deflection. A special cutting position allows the Kapex to have a cutting capacity as large as 4-3/4" (120mm). The deck height of the Kapex matches the height of our Systainer 1 storage containers. On the job site, you can use one or more systainers to support the material being cut. The difference in height between the MFT/3 and MFT/3-Kapex multifunction tables is also equal to the height of the deck providing optimal work flow and support. The Magnesium alloy base of the Kapex was designed to be extremely rigid and durable yet very lightweight. Rubber feet in each corner provide useful traction and fit into the grid hole pattern of any Festool multi-function table. Features Festools patented FastFix blade change system. Turning the FastFix knob locks the arbor, mechanically locks out the trigger, and allows the blade to be changed with a single hand. Dual-line lasers define the entire cut area. This package includes the Multi-function Table to provide a strong, sturdy, portable worktable whose guide rail, dual position fence, swivel unit, and stops make clean cuts and precise angles fast and easy.

I wanted to write a review on the Kapex miter saw because I was soooo excited to finally get mine after using my Hitachi C10FSH for many years. First of all, I want to let all of you know I am not a DIYer or weekend carpenter. This saw stays in my truck and is used every day to earn my living. I use it for a variety of things from simply casing doors and running base to crown molding and complex stair systems. Also let it be known I own several Festool products including the Rotex 125 sander, the 1010 router, jigsaw, track saw, several Systainers and also the CT26 vacuum. I am a huge fan of their products....
WIth that being said let me start with what I feel are the strongest points of the Kapex saw.
1) the weight of the saw is wonderful compared to most 12" saws but wasn't any lighter than the 10" Hitachi I currently use.
2) the up front bevel micro adjustment is simply genius and takes a lot of strain off the body as well as reaching over the saw.
3) the ability to cut large moldings (crown) standing up even though I cut everything on the flat except crown molding.
4) the accessories offered for the saw are wonderful although extremely costly (expect this from Festool).
5) the cord keeper is something every saw maker such put on their saws. Silly but it's such a nice feature.
Cons
1) dust collection is a joke in my opinion....my Hitachi does a much better job with the same vacuum (CT26) and hose. Also note that if you do NOT wish to use the vacuum be prepared to have the saw and work area covered in dust on every cut.
2) the 60 tooth blade that comes with this $1300 saw is a joke. It tears out the bottom of everything and has a tendency to throw small cut-offs. I normally use Forrest Chopmaster blades on all my saws which can be purchased for the Kapex for an additional $150. :(
3) dual lasers....I love, yes love, the laser on my Hitachi. It shines directly onto the work surface w/o passing directly past the blade. I set it where when I line it directly over the pencil mark it takes the mark with the kerf being to the right. It's accurate even to a first-timer. The Kapex has dual lasers which are wonderful if you can figure out how to use them (IMO). If you try and align these lasers too close to the blade the light disperses badly. Get them away from the blade where they are nice and clear and then you have a large margin for error. Also, they are not aligned when you receive the saw which I feel they should be for this cost.
4) motor...this was the total deal-breaker for me. This saw is weak. Really weak. And it has a very slow start. I typically work at a fairly fast pace. That's who I am. I love a soft start saw (Hitachi) but the Kapex has to be "woke up" every time you go to make a cut. Get in too big a hurry and it will wake you up by tossing your work piece off the table. Not fun.
5) the dual safety is a nice feature I suppose if you are accident prone I guess. Personally I dont know of anyone that has lost a finger, arm, leg (lol), on a miter saw because they didn't realize their body was under the blade upon starting the saw. It's typically from being careless or trying to make an "iffy" cut and the blade pinches on the work piece.
This being said, the saw went back after 2 weeks and I am still using the Hitachi and have several $100 bills in my pocket. Hope this helps in your decision making regarding the purchase of this saw. IMO, its simply not worth the cost.
